PHOTO HUNTERS #18--- CURVY

PHOTO HUNTERS HOME

I didn't like this theme. I figure there will be many photos of curvy ladies. . . I was trying to avoid the obvious and found a couple in recent photos I took on a walk downtown.

The first one is a historical building called KIGGINS. It houses a theater and some other shops. It was built when architecture was more important than fast , unimaginative, cheap buildings.

The other entry I have is a painting on a van. . . the stripes on the flag are wavy.

If you really want to see another wavy photo , look below at my post about hairpin lace. . .

Next week the theme is smelly. I may bypass that one altogether. . . probably be just a bunch of socks or feet photos and you can't really smell them. . . maybe someone will get creative and find some smokestacks or a restaurant kitchen or a garbage can. YUP! I think I will take a week off next time.

Ah, but then, Paulie, someone may find some roses next week. In fact, I think I will definitely find some roses. Smelly works both ways!

Paulie said...

Well, ok. I never thought of roses as smelly. They are fragrant. . . to me the word smelly has a negative tone. We will see. I certainly have lots of roses and other flowers to post.

I understand what you meant when you mentioned about curvy ladies. Hehe. I got confused at once with this theme too. Anyway, I like your photos. Especially the one on the van. :D

I think you have made interesting choices as this was a very hard theme. I like the architecture.

I like your curvy photographs. It's interesting to me how good the posts often are when people say the theme was hard for them. I think your choices worked well. Have a great weekend.

I like the van!
But then picture of curvy ladies would have been as interesting... haven't found one entry so far. LOL!

About the smelly entry... I wouldn't mind taking a picture of a garbage can or something just to have an entry. LOL!

I was thinking the same thing - lots of women! This is perfect!

I think these really work. It was tricky to find something but once I got started I ended up with too many to use them all.

Anonymous said...

I haven't taken a shot of any curvy lady on my camera ... lol. that's why I chose the rose. :)
thanks for visiting!

happy weekend!

I wish designers would smarten up and make designs for buildings that are as interesting as the one you posted; like you, i've had enough of the boxes they make.

Weird Dan said...

Who knows, someone might take a photo of armpits or rather something which most of us haven't thought of!

Well, curvy is all it takes for this week

As someone said on my curvy ladies, "only women can post curvy ladies this week". So the poor guys had to find other things to post which they did! Thanks for visiting

Smelly??? Ugh. That will be hard, but I think I can steer away from 'bad smelly'. You did well with this week's theme. My first thought was also women.

Thanks for coming to see my photo and commenting.

You did really good work with this. The flag is my favorite. I look forward to seeing if you change your mind about next week! Maybe you'll come up with a picture that knocks the assigned topic out of the ball park!

Hi Paulie glad you visited mine! Thank you... this curve on the building is so victorian.. isn't it?

I have a picture of skunk cabbage I could post next week. Haven't really though about it yet.

I like the pictures you posted.

Nice way to avoid the whole "curvy body" photo. I really enjoy them!
However, you have all week to think of something fun and unique for "Smelly." Hope you come up with something anyway!

Anonymous said...

I thought this one was hard and also thought there would be a lot pictures of women. Not so much though...who knows what people will come up with next week!

Anonymous said...

I was thinking I would see a bunch of curvy ladies too. But everyone seemed to find other curvy items. You did a good job with the building. You should give next week a shot. I'll come back and see.

you've made some good picks for this week's theme! (i'm glad you didn't go the curvy lady route!)

i read your post about quitting Photo Hunters before i scrolled down to this post; i'm sad that you're quitting. for what it's worth, i do NOT go to all the participants every week. i go visit some that i've gotten to know a little plus a few random ones - and, of course, return the visit to anyone who stops by. but i mostly participate to post my own photos. and that keeps it fun for me. (i have pretty much quit some other weekly memes that i always used to do, though, so i definitely understand.)

take care! :o)

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I love architecture (I worked for a neighborhood association in a national historic district)...as for smelly...we had a stinkbug (I also like bugs) wander into school, but (alas) I didn't have my camera that day.

Joy said...

It's a beautiful curvy design on the building! I agree, architecture back then was much more interesting than the prevailing prefab stuff going on today.

Good choices for photohunt.

Sorry to hear you about you're not participating in any more photohunt. Glad to hear you have more time to do other things.

Lovely take on this weeks theme and like you said I thought there would be many curvy ladies posted but have yet to stumble upon one.

About taking photo's on a plane I did ask the stewardess before doing so and she said it was ok, in fact on my camera setting I have an auto scene function for aerial shots except it does give a warning stating that to ensure not to use electronic devices during takeoff and landing.

Thanks for dropping by my curvy :)

Very cool, Paulie. Love your photos! Thanks for visiting me!

I totally understand your feelings about the hunt. The dirty one got a little out of hand. :-(

Thanks for your compliments on my button wreath! You asked if I had directions as to how I made it. Yes, I posted about that earlier at
http://barbarah.wordpress.com/2006/12/30/buttons/

I read your other post above about quitting photo hunters because of its having too many participants to visit all of them. Though I like to visit as many as possible, I don't think anyone visits them all, not even TN chick. There are a few people I have gotten to know over the months of doing the photo hunt, and I try to always look at theirs, plus whoever visits mine. Plus whenever I post my comment to TN Chick's site, I often visit around to the others whop posted around the time I did. If I have time I;ll visit even more -- but there's just no way to visit all, and no one expects that. So I hope you don't quit for that reason. It's perfectly acceptable to just visit as much as you can. I know I'd like to visit them all because it's fun to see what people come up with, but, as you say, there is just not time and then it becomes a chore.

I love that building. It's beautiful.
