Blogging Your Blessings Sunday #1
I have a weekly Bible reminder on my blog and this week I saw the following:
"Christians are supposed to be the light of the world, but you can't be a light if you're not plugged in."
Searching out the Bible verse this referred to, I found:
John 8:12 Jesus tells me “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
Through my faith, He gives me the light too. I have the option to let it shine or keep it turned off. What is meant by letting my light shine? Why is it that I sometimes turn my light off? Why do I forget that He is the light that shines throughout my life?
Too many questions! Ponder the answers . . . oops! I first have to turn on the light Jesus gave me. How do I do that? ONLY with HIS help! I need to walk the talk. Jesus is the light of the world and I, in turn, am the light of the world because I have Him in me! So then, why is it that I turn my light off sometimes? Surely not to save on my power bill! My "power bill" has been paid in full, in advance, by Jesus. He died to accomplish this for all men. But not all men have chosen to open this gift yet. . . it is my job to let my light shine to help bring others to Jesus so they can have His light also.
I don't need to be an evangelist. I don't need to lead a Bible Study. I just need to share the good news through daily actions as I walk my talk. Through my actions, I am shining my light for Jesus so others can come to realize His great gift of LIGHT for all.
Presently, I am attending two Bible studies to learn more about this Jesus, who is the LIGHT OF THE WORLD. The time spent in the WORD keeps me plugged in.
What a blessing!
