A part of me died tonight. . .

Ever since Jenny Mcb told me about PHOTO HUNTERS, I have been eager for each weekend to roll around. I love a challenge and I enjoy seeing other photographer enthusiasts' entries. The last month or so I have been struggling, trying to get to everyone's entry over the weekend and it is just consuming me. The blogroll just keeps getting bigger. It is impossible for me to keep participating. I have to admit that I invited two people to participate and added to this. . .

Believe it or not, I didn't quit because of next week's theme. . . "smelly." I had decided on onion rings and a hot dog with sauerkraut photo. I had one and knew a hot dog stand downtown where I could take the other.

It's just a chore now and not fun like it used to be when I first started. I am sad about my decision but I will be happy to have some time back. TNChick had a great idea but I feel there needed to be some control on participants. . . well, I am helping by making it one less.

Awwww...I understand totally. You have to enjoy what you do. I don't think you're obligated to do every one OR to comment on all of them. Allow yourself to participate at the level you wish.

And, if, that means taking a break, then do it. You may feel better.

Hugs to you.

:-) Susan

That is too bad about you dropping out of the photo hunt. You should not feel that you have to visit everyone on the list! That is a bit crazy! I usually only visit between 30 and 40 per week (including TNChick, the site of the week, and the newbies). If I had to visit everyone, I would also not do the hunt. Think it over before dropping out. :-)

Oh Paulie, this is so sad! Maybe instead of quitting completely, you could consider visiting some Photo Hunters but not all each week? :S

Anyways, thanks for visiting my blog. I appreciate your doing so, and throwing in some comments besides.

Oh I wish you would reconsider! I love your comments! I know it is difficult to get by to everyone, you really don't have to stop by and see them all. I do completely understand about some themes being hard, I have sat out a few weeks latley myself.
You will be missed if you decide not to participate.
:o)

Paulie,
You don't have to visit everyone on the blog roll. There's no way I could even get to a 1/4 of Thursday thirteens. Usually I just go to the ones that I enjoy regularly, people who visit mine and 1-2 new ones a week.
Can you do that with photo hunters? There's also Wordless Wednesday for photos....

ah...for what it's worth, I put 10 pennies in a cup and take one away for each photo I visit. When they're gone, I'm done - except to visit those folks who comment on mine. That system has really saved me time and it still stays fun.

Hi! I haven't been a regular at PhotoHunters for very long - one of those who got in late in the game but I feel sad just the same to hear of someone quitting something that used to bring a lot of enjoyment.
I know what you mean by having so many participants. Personally, I don't get to everyone because it's too much. I have a busy life with my 4 young ones. But I do go to at least the 10people who post before me and reciprocate to those who comment on mine. It makes it manageable for me. Kudos to you for visiting everyone's. You may want to consider that alternative instead of quitting altogether.
Hope you don't mind me sharing some thoughts!

Hi,
I wanted you to know that I've been by to visit your latest posts. I know what you mean about Photo Hunters. I think I'm pleased with the people I have met there but ready to give it up, too.
I haven't had a post for my blog lately. I think I'm feeling a little blah but I'll get over it.
Hope your week is good.

It's sad that you have come to such a decision to stop hunting. I'm rather new to PhotoHunters and have enjoyed looking at other people's view on a certain theme plus it allows me to know about things and places without ever even visiting them.

I agree that the blogroll just keeps getting bigger and I usually visit about 10 a day or sometimes even more when time permits and apart from that I definitely visit and reply those who have dropped by mine as well. It can be a chore at times but I believe that not everyone expects everyone to visit each and everyone on the blogroll, that would just be too time consuming.

I will miss you on the hunt, Paulie! I used to try to visit everyone, but some of them are just a little too weird. So I started just hitting the ones I knew I would like. Or those who visited me. Definitely too time consuming to visit everyone now. Maybe we should start a new one that is open only to invited people. ;-)

It saddens me that you have made this decision, but I can understand where youa re coming from. Sometimes we just have to do what we have to do!

Since you got me started with PhotoHunters I have never visited all of the entries. I check yours, and a couple of others that have struck me as always interesting. I try to get to those who comments on mine. Then, as time permits, I visit a few each evening through the week as I watch TV and do other stuff. (Well, as long as I don't have Parish Council, or Choir Practice, or...)

How do I decide who to visit? I might start by going to TnChick's comments and choose one from each page to visit. Or I start with one and click onto someone who has commented there.

Anyway, take a break for sure, but consider visiting again.

Photo Hunt is all about having fun - I think. You can just post if you feel like it not because you are obligated.

I hope you will still visit mine! :-)

I used to try and visit everyone too. Look at me. It's Thursday and I'm just now visiting last weeks. I'm so glad you stopped and hope you will continue even if it's not on a weekly basis.
