PHOTO HUNTERS #16- PAPER

PHOTO HUNTERS HOME
The theme this week is PAPER. I thought of all kinds of things. I even considered photos that showed something that was "paper thin." BUT then, I decided to use a paper memory instead.

These are Girl Scout membership cards of my twin sister and I -- and Mom's -- who was the Troop Leader "way back when" in Idaho.

This is the front of the original Brownie cards.

The next photo -- the original really is white but camera wasn't cooperating --is of one of the cards I bothered to save from when I was a Girl Scout leader for my own daughter back in Idaho where I originally started in Girl Scouting. I had been a leader in Hawaii before that. For privacy, I took off my present last name. Unfortunately, I am stuck with my real first name on the card. Ü Did you notice how close the numbers of troops were when I was a child and an adult?

If I had realized that fact when I became a leader in Idaho, I would have asked for the old troop number (22) so I could come full circle! I didn't find these three cards until my Mom was cleaning out some stuff at her home and she asked if I wanted her old Girl Scout Leader's Guide. The three cards from when my twin and I were Brownies and Mom was our leader were tucked inside it! They're quite old! Ü

You are gettin a head start on tomorrow.
About the Clematis, I didn't know that was what the white flower vine was until I saw it in a gardening magazine last year while sitting in a hospital waiting room. We have two of the other kind with big white flowers and one purple that bloom in the Spring & Summer.

I have find memories of Girl Scouts when I was a child. I used to have a box with my badges -- don't know if I have the cards -- but I don't know where any of that stuff is now. Maybe my mom's attic? Good choice for today!

What wonderful pieces of your history... and surely many happy memories.

I often wonder, if in 50 years or so, the only mementos will be on disks that no longer have the means to be played/viewed.

I'm just looking at other blogs and I came across your blog and the first thing came to my mind "wow someone lived in Idaho" well I'm up in Bonners Ferry area the northern part of the state.
I was never a brownie or girl scout but I was a blue bird and camp fire girl.
Plus I did 4-H

What great paper pictures...and memories. I had the opportunity to go to Juliette Gordon Low's childhood home in Savannah and was most impressed. I was almost sorry that I "dropped out" after Brownies.

Excellent Idea! I love finding these old membership cards and other memorabilia. I live in a rented house and there are TONS of old papers here.. wish I had thought to dig them out and post them. Most of them are in German, so I can't read them. Great idea!

I was a girl scout too for many, many years. I have a lot of fond memories from that time (and a lot of crafts and pictures that I have saved in my memory trunk).
