There it was, right in front of me. . .

I don't know what kind of bird this is but I was walking across the Walmart parking lot and looking at the many seagulls there when I spotted this bird in a small tree right in front of me! I was so close to it, I almost didn't see it. . . something made me look down from the sky (probably so I wouldn't trip over a curb!!!!!) and there it was. It was nice enough to let me take a photo from several angles. It doesn't look very happy . . . If anyone knows what it is, I would love to identify it. Thanks!
CLICK ON BIRDS TO SEE THEM BIGGER. jennyi over at Tnet identified it as a Starling. A Google search explains how the birds were transplanted to the United States to make a connection to Shakspear's plays.

Looks like a woodpecker. I always thought the woodpeckers had a red head but didn't realize there is different kinds and the females don't have it. But i am sure i am wrong on this one you posted. I don't know birds at all.

Nice shot of that bird.

The comment you left about getting water and it not being fenced in...I was told there was a homeless man who lived in that area so they had to fence it in and keep it locked because he would go down there to take bathes. The church used this well of spring water so they need not need it getting contaminated.

I didnt know those were starlings. I thought they were Glarks or Garks .. I see them around 'here' occasionally . pretty irresdescent feathers ..

BTW I left you 'instructions' on how to set up a slide show over under my comments section

Nice - I don't think I've ever seen a bird like it. I have a bird picture today, too. I've been trying to take pictures of the birds but haven't been very successful. I just have to keep trying.

They are pests at feeders. Ganging up and running other Birds off.

Thanks for stopping by and wishing me well. So many did and I am grateful. Last night, I tried to visualize my bronchi and picture them expanding and opening up to fill with air. Whatever, I'm thankful to breathe deaper.

Come to think of it, starlings are the type of birds causing trouble at the I-5 bridge because they nest there and then the mechanics of opening the bridge for tall ships doesn't work. Thus, they are shooting off loud cannon sounds from a barge on the river to scare them away.

I jsut had never gotten so close to a bird that let me take its photo.

That is such a pretty little bird. What a lucky catch for you. I'm glad I got to see him.

Wal-Mart parking lots have so many photo taking opportunities, isn't that funny? I've taken a lot there myself. Take care!
