Blog Your Blessing Sunday #37

If you care to join us acknowledging our blessings go here: Blue Panther

My blessing this week are the free concerts in the park each Thursday evening during July and August. This week it was our pleasure to hear Patrick Lamb and his Band again -- they also performed at our 4th of July event.

A bank here pays for most of the expenses and we have a Pepsi distributor and the local newspaper supporting it also.

It all takes place at a park in the middle of downtown. There is a beautiful bandstand there to use for performances. The mayor attends each one and always has a few good words to say about that night's band and always puts in a plug for Vancouver also. They even have prizes given out at half time to lucky ticket numbers which we are given free of charge.

OK, so now you know the setting. . . get your imagination going and sit back and listen to two hours of great tunes. What else can it be but a blessing? ONE that has been going on each summer for the past 8 years. If it is Thursday night, you will find me at the park! Thank you, Lord for the gift of music you have given to so many and for the sponsors who make it possible!

Exactly, Paulie! Summer outdoor concerts are the best. It's like having a picnic with your town but nobody really has to do anything but show up.

Aha! Another Concert Blessing! (Granted, I am so with you guys... what a great and wonderful thing a concert on a Summer night is...)

Since our park is now doing "Shakespeare in the Park", allow me to quote the Bard...

If music be the food of life, play on!

The Yakima Community Band gives a concert in the park during the summer. I think it is weekly. Theya re a group of amateur and professional musicians who do it for the love of music. I have heard them at some of their other concerst, but don't get to yakima too often during the summer. Two of my faculty colleagues play with them.

Reminds me of the times during summers when I would listen to street bands in the city. More memories...

Love your ‘sunset view’ from your ‘high rise’ … I shared MY sunset view at Sacred Ruminations today for Sky Watch (marred by electrical wires because I’m not so ‘high’ … but lovely all the same). Your flower shots are beautiful too and remind me I could carry my camera with me on my walks too (though Molly might not let me take many photos until she’s tired). Thanks for sharing. Your ‘Odd Shot’ Wordle is very ‘kewl’ indeed … and I enjoyed your unusual ‘sculpture’ photo there too.

I’m really here for BYBS but couldn’t resist taking a moment to comment on the rest. Thanks for making your entire posts available in my ‘reader’ so I didn’t miss them. Free ‘concerts in the park’ are a wonderful blessing. I enjoy them here in So Cal as well but never thought of sharing here. What a fine idea! Thanks for your visit to my BYBS at Sacred Ruminations last week. I apologize for the slowness of my response, but I’m glad to be doing what I can to ‘catch up’ today. I hope you’ve had a wonderful week.
Hugs and blessings,
