Blog Your Blessings Sunday #29

If you care to join us acknowledging our blessings go here: Blue Panther

It has been awhile since I have been awake to see a sunrise. . . but this morning, the light was shining so bright into my room that I woke up. I live on the 8th floor. I grabbed my camera and took these two shots through the window. I wish I had a balcony!

Today - Saturday - was clean up in downtown, and I was one of the 1000 participants. I had to get up very early to meet the rest in the park and be assigned an area to pick up litter, clean up weeds and such. There were tiny kids and senior citizens all working together.

Since I have been retired, I get up when I choose mostly so there was a little grudge in my heart knowing that I had to get up early and walk almost two miles to get to the park. I knew I could do it. . . and I did but my muscles know how hard I worked today. When we got finished, I would have headed straight home but we had a free lunch and music entertainment so I waited around. Long as I found a bench in the shade and wasn't too far along in the line to get the lunch, I was ok. I didn't win any of the "door prizes" but it was nice anyway. I had a nice hot lunch and even seconds and the music wasn't too bad either. Finally, about 1:00 PM, I headed home for another shower and a nap.

OK. So where's my blessing? Well, that arrived with the sunrise I was able to capture. That came knowing that I was a part of 1000 people helping our town to look a little nicer. I also made a few new friends and we all worked together as a team. Our downtown and uptown (where I live) looks terrific! Lots of blessings there.

Thanks for this wonderful post. I enjoyed your photos and your thoughts. Our town also does a clean-up; it's good to see people working together to make things nice and perhaps thinking about taking care of this planet all the time.

Sometimes I try to imagine what the sunrise I saw looks like to people who see it after me as it moves West. Now I know.

Is it possible to deny God's majesty witnessing a sunrise?

What a GREAT post... thanks kindly for sharing it!

It's nice to be retired and get up when you want to but that was certainly a good cause that got you up so early. Sounds like it was a nice day too.

Lots of blessings indeed!!!

The pictures of the sunrise are very beautiful, and that is a sign of what we miss every day.

Our town does not have clean-ups, but I think it is a great idea. Maybe, I can get together a few people and try start something like that.

Hi, Paulie. We have the same thing in Vermont: the first Saturday of May is Green Up Day and everybody gets out, pitches in and picks up trash. Many towns have potlucks, too, which is great. Your photographs are so beautiful. We haven't had any colorful sunrises in ages here.

Now if that were my post, I would have pointed out how this gave me "grumbling rights" and that was a good thing(tm). Of course, if it had been my post, I probably would have stayed in bed :-)

I love that second photograph. It looks as if you may see each leaf on the trees.

The Earth felt you loved her when you cleaned that annoying trash from her skin.

Angels around you.

Maybe I will have the blessing of sleeping in when I retire. As it is now, I wake up early every day including my days off as it takes me a few days to get off that schedule. Except for Mondays. On Monday mornings I have had three days in a row of not having to get up, so the alarm must wake me. By this time of year, though, I miss the sunrise because it is even earlier than I must get up. Doesn't bother me a bit having to drive to school in daylight.

I am testing to see if I can post and not be closed down. This will show up, and I will either still be here or will disappear and have to start over.

Great shots! I know you were blessed by the sunrise and also for the good feeling of volunteering to help at the park.
