Another immigrant bird pest . . .

This bird is a common house sparrow. I have been told it is not native to the US but brought here and is a pest to native birds because it is very aggressive. It is hard for me to imagine that since it looked so small and "ran away" when I tried to get its photo.

we get quite a lot of them here - not seen as a threat at all.

It's a cute little bird! I have a hard time identifying birds even with my bird book.

Yes, they drive other birds away from the feeders, knock eggs from nests and lay their own, and will build in every birdhouse they can find. They will even build in last years' nests. They may look innocent but are invasive like many imports.

Thay are native here (UK) but not aggressive. They don't knock eggs out of nest in favour of their own. They can recycle old, abandoned nests, though, but they aren't the only species to do that. I've never seen sparrows being aggressive at all and I'm really shocked to hear it!
